Ingredients

Dough

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

(THIS RECPE MAKES EXTRA FOR YOU TO FREEZE, BUT YOU CAN DIVIDE THE INGREDIENTS IN HALF IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE LEFTOVERS)

Glaze

  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. Half n Half
  • 1 tsp. vanilla bean paste or pure vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp. Lucky Leaf Cherry Filling (without any cherries)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 drop of red food coloring, if desired

Directions

  1. Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees, place oven rack in center of the oven. Lightly butter a glass 12 1/2 by 8" baking dish and set aside.

Dough

  1. Step 1
In a small saucepan, heat the milk and add butter until it melts. Take off the heat and set aside to cool. In the bowl of your stand mixer with a dough hook, combine 2 1/4 cups flour, yeast, sugar & salt.

  2. Step 2
Add 1/4 cup of water to your milk/butter mixture (once cooled) add whisked eggs slowly to the milk mixture. Add the milk mixture into the flour mixture and mix until the flour is incorporated. Add in an additional 1 cup of flour and mix for about 3-5 minutes until all of the flour is combined & dough comes together into a smooth ball.

  3. Step 3
Roll the dough into a ball and cover with plastic wrap for 10 minutes. After dough has rested, on a floured surface, roll your dough into rectangles about 12"x16".

  4. Step 4
Reserve 3/4 cup of cherry filling, use remaining filling of 1 can and spread on the rolled out dough - leaving an inch border all around the dough. Carefully roll up the buns from the short side. Try to pinch the dough together to seal it. With a serrated knife, cut the roll of dough in the middle. Carefully cut each half into 3 rolls, you should have 6 large buns in total.

  5. Step 5
Place the buns into your buttered glass dish and cover with plastic wrap. Place in a warm part of your kitchen and let rise for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, take some of the remaining cherry filling and add cherries into each of the rolls wherever there are large gaps. Top with crumble mixture.

  6. Step 6
Bake for 15 minutes. Lower your oven to 350 degrees and cover buns with foil bake for an additional 10 minutes. Make the glaze while the buns cool for 20 minutes.

Crumble

  1. Step 1
In a medium bowl, place all of the dry crumble ingredients together and whisk until combined. Add in melted butter and use a fork to mix it all together until crumbles form. Place in fridge until ready to top the buns.

Glaze

  1. Step 1
In a medium sized bowl, whisk together all the glaze ingredients. Drizzle over baked buns. Top with additional cherry filling before serving. Enjoy.
