Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Reference cake mix box for appropriate pan size. Grease pan.
Step 2
Combine dry cake mix with can of apple pie filling, 1/3 cup apple butter, and eggs (do not add oil or water). Stir well.
Step 3
Bake for the amount of time directed on box of cake mix. Cool cake.
Step 4
Blend cream cheese, butter, confectioners sugar and 4 Tablespoons of apple butter until smooth. Spread icing on cooled cake
Spice cake is my husband’s favorite. Since I tried this recipe, no other will do. Make it every year for his birthday. If you have trouble finding the apple butter, look in the jam and jelly section of the grocery store.

I have made this many times. I usually bake in a bundt pan. I slice the apples as I prefer smaller pieces of apple in the cake. It’s super delicious.
