No Bake – Black Forest Cherry Pie

Ingredients

Optional

  • 1/4 cup Diamond of California® sliced almonds
  • 2 Tablespoons mini chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Step 1
In a large bowl, blend 1 ½ cups chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk and almond extract. Microwave, in bursts of 20 seconds, stirring in between each burst until blended & smooth.

  2. Step 2
Add the chocolate mixture to pie crust and top with cherry fruit filling. Cover and chill for 4 hours.

  3. Step 3
Beat the heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form, about 1-2 minutes on high speed. Pipe swirls around the edges of the pie. Melt ½ cup chocolate chips in the microwave and drizzle over the center of the pie. If desired, sprinkle on sliced almonds & mini chocolate chips.

  4. Step 4
Chill for 30 more minutes before cutting and serving. To get clean cuts, run a sharp knife under hot water, dry, and make a cut. Repeat until all slices of the pie are cut out.

  5. Step 5
    Serve immediately after being cut.

  4. JEN D. says:

chocolate was not creamy – was hard like a rock – was like a big chocolate candy bar with cherries on top. Flavor was good, but was expecting something more creamy.

  5. Arlene Middleton says:

This is a nice, yet elegant recipe

  6. Susan Wallenslager says:

The flavor was great but the chocolate was hard as a rock. The pie was almost impossible to cut as a result. It was also extremely difficult to eat because the chocolate was so hard. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RECIPE TO MY WORST ENEMY.

  7. Marna says:

Hard as a rock. Hard to cut and eat. Very disappointing.

  8. Laurie says:

Thought this was going to be a great Christmas dessert. The walnut pie crust was very good, but the chocolate filling was hard, like solid fudge (actually harder than fudge!) Not an appealing “pie” at all!! But it did look good!

  9. brenda thatcher says:

The chocolate was not creamy at all. Based upon another review, I added more condensed milk thinking it would make it creamier. It did not! It was like fudge with cherries on top. Extremely difficult to slice and guests couldn’t eat it. Flavor was good, but I find it hard to believe this was tested in the food kitchen or they left something out of the recipe. It wasn’t cheap to make either!

  10. Allen Lee Bochat says:

This recipe looks great I just can’t wait to make it and enjoy it.

  11. Ruthie says:

So disappointing! Same opinion as all the other 1-star reviews. Don’t waste your time it money on this recipe.

  12. lindad says:

Have to agree with all the other 1 stars. Too hard, Can’t even cut it with a sharp knife.
    Tossed it.

  13. Geri says:

I have never written a review before but just thought I had to for this pie. I already started making the filling when I read the reviews.. I added 2 oz of cream cheese, about 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows and a little half and half to the chocolate chips and condensed milk before I melted them. Had to melt in microwave longer than stated in recipe but the pie turned out great, filling was not hard at all.
A little thinking saved the pie!

  14. me says:

Add cream cheese and make it a cheese cake pie!!! It will turn out way better and delicious!!!

  15. Margaret Blumberg says:

Sure wish to have read reviews before making this pie. Hard as the proverbial rock! Difficult to cut and eat–whoever devised this never made it according to directions. Buy a chocolate bar and save money and time.

  16. Rebecca says:

Why is the chocolate so hard? Was something left out of recipe?
