Directions

Instructions

  1. Step 1
Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets on a clean work surface. Cut the pastry into equal rectangles for the bases of the hand pies. Set aside enough additional pastry to cut into thin strips for the mummy “bandages.”

  2. Step 2
Make two hand pies with each flavor: Apple, Blueberry, and Raspberry. Spoon a small amount of Lucky Leaf Fruit Filling into the center of each pastry rectangle, leaving a border around the edges so the filling doesn’t spill out while baking.

  3. Step 3
Cut the remaining puff pastry into thin strips. Layer the strips diagonally and horizontally across each filled pastry, overlapping them slightly to create a mummy-wrapped look. Leave a small opening near the top of each hand pie for the candy eyes.

  4. Step 4
Gently press the pastry strips onto the edges of each hand pie to secure them. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to trim away any excess pastry hanging over the sides for clean, even edges.

  5. Step 5
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Lightly brush the exposed puff pastry with the egg wash.

  6. Step 6
Transfer the hand pies to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 375°F for about 20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is puffed and golden brown.

  7. Step 7
Allow the hand pies to cool slightly. Lightly dust with powdered sugar, then place two edible candy eyes in the opening on each mummy.

Tip: For the Apple Fruit Filling, chop any larger apple pieces into smaller bite-size pieces before adding them to the pastry.
